Jackson Martinez says that while Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are La Liga's difference-makers,Atletico Madrid can challenge Barcelona and Real Madrid for the title.
The Colombia international completed his move to the Vicente Calderon on July 15, with the Rojiblancos agreeing to meet the €35 million buy-out clause in the striker's contract with previous club Porto.
Jackson was officially unveiled as an Atletico player on Sunday and promptly declared his intention to help Diego Simeone's famously industrious side beat Primera Division heavyweights Barca and Madrid to the 2015-16 title.
"Messi & Ronaldo make the difference in La Liga but we can compete with Barcelona and Real Madrid," he told reporters.
"I feel like I have joined a very committed side, one that is ambitious and demanding, and has a great coach.
"Atletico Madrid have done a great job in recent years and I just want to give my best and be happy.
"I want to repay all of the confidence that has been placed in me by the board, the coach and my tea-mates.
"I know what Atletico Madrid are about and I want to do my best. Goals will come for me through team work. Atletico are a winning team."
Despite their relatively small budget compared to the Clasico duo, Atletico managed to win La Liga in 2014, pipping Barca to top spot, with Madrid coming home third.
However, the Catalans reclaimed the title last season thanks in no small part to Messi's 43 goals, while Ronaldo hit five more for the second-placed Blancos.
