Lionel Messi won’t join Barcelona on its summer U.S. tour (he’s busy showing off his acid-washed jorts in Gabon), but that didn’t stop teammate Luis Suarez from paying homage to the star when he met with little kids in Los Angeles for an autograph session.
When asked by one young fan if Suarez thought he was the best, the Uruguayan said, “I’m not the best,” before adding, “You know who is the best?”
“Messi,” the kid answered and Suarez agreed.
But that’s hardly a surprise. Since he joined Barcelona last summer amid his World Cup bite controversy, Suarez hasn’t stopped gushing about his respect for the four-time FIFA Ballon d’Or winner.
While the two, along with fellow striker Neymar, seem to get along outside of soccer, it’s on the field where the trio really shines. Together, the three set a new Spanish record last season, scoring a total of 122 goals. Barcelona went on to win the trio but earning titles in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
