Barcelona to sell in January

Football can change very quickly, 27-year-old Aleix Vidal will testify to that since he joined Barcelona.

Vidal arrived at Barcelona from Sevilla in June 2015, with Barca spending €18 million to bring him to Camp Nou, with an additional €4 million due in various add-on clauses.

It was a big money signing, especially considering that Barcelona were under a FIFA transfer embargo due to breaking rules on signing under-age foreign players at the time.

Barca and Vidal had to wait until January to finally see him play and whilst he didn't become a mainstay in the side, he made 14 appearances, with Barca winning 13 of those games with the only blemish being the 1-1 draw with Valencia in the Copa Del Rey second leg which followed an 8-0 win.

His latest appearance of the season was during the 6-0 win over Getafe where Barcelona extended the all-time Spanish record of consecutive games unbeaten to 37.

But a bit like Arda Turan who joined at the same time, his future has always been in question, but unlike Turan, Vidal hasn't been able to turn it around.

Dani Alves may have left Camp Nou, but Vidal is still second choice behind Sergi Roberto and even when Roberto has been injured, Vidal still hasn't featured.

It seems obvious that Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique no longer backs him and with Barcelona continually linked with potential new signings at full back, Vidal's days at Barcelona look numbered.

Spanish newspaper Sport claim that 'Barça and the player have taken a few weeks to reflect on the situation, but both parties agree that the best thing is to look for a January move due to a lack of opportunities in the first team..

They went on to add: 'The Blaugrana are looking for at least 13 million euros, although that`s unlikely given his ostracism, although a loan until the end of the season has not been ruled out yet.
