Barcelona under pressure to make move for Coutinho

According to Mundo Deportivo, the agent who manages Neymar and Coutinho’s affairs is pushing Barcelona to sign Coutinho.

There is little point in denying that Philippe Coutinho has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season and is already a candidate for Player of the Season. His performances have been a huge part of Liverpool’s great form this season and the Merseyside club now find themselves third in the league.

With four goals and four assists in the Premier League, Coutinho is once again attracting attention from all over Europe. Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo report that Coutinho’s agent is pushing for a move to Barcelona. It would seem Coutinho’s representative is trying to get the Spanish club moving as far as deal is concerned.

I don’t buy a single word of it. Coutinho was spotted at the Barcelona team hotel this week in Manchester and he snapped a few pictures with Luis Suarez and, naturally, many people connected the dots in the wrong order and came to the conclusion that he was meeting his future teammates but, come on. He was just visiting an old friend.

Liverpool are in seriously good form and while Jurgen Klopp’s side are a far cry from the level that Barcelona is on, Coutinho has said on several occasions that he feels as though Liverpool is his home.“Liverpool feels like my home,” Coutinho told the Liverpool Echo.

“I feel happy, settled and comfortable here with the city and the people.

“It’s an amazing city. I enjoy going to the cinema with my wife and to restaurants in town. The supporters are very nice. Hearing people singing my name, it inspires me. The fans here make me feel amazing.They give all the players confidence. They are there for us in every game.”

I am sure that Jurgen Klopp is doing his utmost to keep hold of players like Coutinho who are pivotal to any type of success that might be coming the way of the Merseysiders very soon. Liverpool is very much a selling club and while teams like Atletico Madrid have managed to cope with selling stars and competing in Europe, it’s harder to do so in England with the continuous pressure of domestic football.

Coutinho isn’t leaving anytime soon. I am sure that he’ll remain a Liverpool player for a while but whether or not he’ll stay with the Reds into his prime is yet to be seen and is down to whether or not Liverpool can promise the same level of quality as clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid.
